My Keats novel, after the first month

I have posted before about my desire to start a novel - a particular novel, the idea of which I've been mulling over for some years. Finally I launched into it on 1 September 2008. And here I am, one month later, well underway. Hurrah! :-)

Progress: 7229 words written, plus some necessary thinking, planning, reading, and of course a bit more mulling. Not bad for a month in which I was also working on a stressful project, losing up to four hours of the day to commuting, plus juggling a sideline in web design.

Of course the Grand Plan is to get this finished, send it off to be professionally published by someone entirely appropriate such as John Murray, win the Booker Prize... you can guess the rest! I don't want to be J K Rowling, but it would be nice to earn a little dosh from and a little recognition for something that means so much to me.

I thought I'd post here at the end of each month, so as I can pretend I'm not the only one keeping track of what I'm up to! Incentive, you know. Gotta have something to show for myself each month. And if any of you would like to cheer me on, that would be awfully nice. :-D

Right! Now I'm off to do some Useful Reading...
