Happy birthday, dear Junkets!
Oct. 31st, 2008 10:25 pmWell, here I am, another month into my Keats novel. I see that I haven't posted anything here in that month (though I have been keeping up with my flist, and commenting on my friends' entries). Also, I have been off work for most of the month. So you would think I'd be further into the novel, eh? Heh! No, I'm still feeling my way, rather tentatively for now. Progress: 14149 words written, and a working title found which will no doubt have to be changed. It's coming along...
And today is Keats' birthday... He'd be 213 years old now, if only the darned consumption hadn't got him! I presume to call him Junkets, his school nickname, which his friend Leigh Hunt continued to use throughout his alas-too-short life. Of course if I met him, it would have to be Mr Keats instead. :-)
I am very much looking forward to the movie Bright Star, about Keats and Fanny Brawne, to be released in 2009. Such subject matter could of course be handled woefully, but I have every faith in director Jane Campion. She rocks. And check out the movie's official website! Awesome! As a fledgling web designer myself, I am impressed and just a teensy bit jealous and very inspired.
Confession: I have yet to sit down and read through all my novel thus far. I am kinda nervous about it. I don't wanna lose faith in the project or let myself feel discouraged! So I just keep moving ahead, a sentence or a few hundred words at a time...
I'll get there!
